Hockey Wales Receive Chwarae Teg’s FairPlay Employer Silver Award

Hockey Wales is incredibly excited and proud to be awarded the FairPlay Employer Silver Award by leading Welsh gender equality charity Chwarae Teg.

It is official recognition of the National Governing Body’s commitment to creating and sustaining gender equality and inclusion within the organisation.

The award, which is based on employees completing a workplace diversity survey and backed up with supporting evidence, has three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold.

Receiving the Silver level in the first year, Hockey Wales was only 0.26% off achieving Gold. With Chwarae Teg providing specific recommendations and support to further improve, the NGB hopes to achieve the Gold level next year.

Hockey Wales Chief Executive Ria Burrage-Male said “We are delighted to receive this award and recognition. We must continue to be a better organisation, challenging ourselves and the environment we operate in - ensuring women and girls are visible and influential across all areas of our sport.

“We are extremely grateful to Chwarae Teg for the work they do. It’s an inspirational organisation that is committed to a fairer Wales for Women”.

Michelle Coffey, HR Employer Consultant, Chwarae Teg, said: “I must congratulate the team at Hockey Wales. To achieve a Silver Award at the start of their FairPlay Employer journey is a major achievement as our benchmarking process is extremely tough.

“As a future focussed employer, Hockey Wales is committed to workplace equality, diversity and providing the right environment for everyone to thrive. Our FairPlay Employer service can make it happen by providing organisations and businesses with a bespoke path to success.”
