Hockey Wales CEO Ria Burrage-Male To Leave Organisation in March 2023

Hockey Wales will soon be recruiting for a new Chief Executive Officer. After 5 and a half years Ria Burrage-Male will be leaving the organisation in March 2023.

Ria started with Hockey Wales as Head of Development before securing promotion to Chief Executive. Her tenure at Hockey Wales has spanned slightly longer than this time as she was previously an Executive Board Director and in her former years represented Hockey Wales in over 30 International appearances - the pinnacle being competing in the Commonwealth Games in 2014.

During Ria’s time at Hockey Wales, she has led with passion and vision, changing the perception of the organisation through improved governance, stronger relationships and clear organisational goals.

The visibility of hockey has increased dramatically, through stronger broadcasting relationships and performances on the world stage, not to mention qualification for the 2023 Men's World Cup and now a bid to host the 2026 World Cup.

Ria leaves the organisation to take a career break but will remain in post until after the Men's World Cup.

"I am extremely passionate about Hockey and the future success of Hockey Wales, so the decision to leave was not taken lightly, however I am excited to embark on a trip of a lifetime travelling with my wife and our two children."
