About the event

Hockey Wales are visiting every county in Wales to deliver outdoor 7-a-side hockey festivals to year 7/8 and year 9/10 students.

The purpose of these festivals is to provide fun, safe and inclusive hockey opportunities to mixed ages and ability groups at a central venue which is accessible to all.

The outdoor festivals will be mixed-gender meaning that boys and girls will play in the same team. Schools must select a team of 4 boys and 3 girls (or vice versa) as a ratio to play in each game and provide your own hockey sticks. We also recommend you bring a set of bibs as well to use should there be a kit clash. If you don’t have hockey sticks or bibs though don’t worry as we can supply these on the day.

As this is a festival format, no results will be recorded meaning that students can enjoy the experience in a relaxed environment. The festival will be umpired by hockey leaders and also be supported by local clubs (where possible) who will provide pathway opportunities for students to transition into. Each student who participates will receive a certificate of attendance.

Schools can enter a maximum of 2 teams in both the year 7/8 and year 9/10 festivals. Once you register for the festival Hockey Wales will send you a follow up email closer to the festival date to confirm further arrangements. Should you wish to enter more teams, please contact our Schools and Communities Manager.

Thank you for your entry and we look forward to seeing you attend your county hockey festival!
